What would an anime series by Quinten Tarantino look like? Baccano is probably very close. It's a story of gangsters, mysteries and immortal beings shown from multiple angles from the perspectives of dozens of characters, presented out of sequence. From start to finish, it's raucous, violent and not for the squeamish.

You're bound to get attached to at least a few of the colorful characters among the thieves, mad men and mafiosos and despite its nonlinear nature it isn't particularly difficult to follow but the author's other work Durarara might be more to your speed if you find Baccano difficult to engage with for that reason.
