"The work, which becomes a new genre itself, will be called...COWBOY BEBOP"
The series follows four bounty hunters. All four are running from their past. By the end of the series, the past catches up to each and every one of them. Even the dog is running away from his past.
But we can think about that later, time to make some money! We can make 3 million Woolongs if we capture this guy! The series is told episodically, meaning that with a few exceptions you can watch a random episode without having seen the rest and still enjoy it on its own. This is why it became the flagship anime on Adult Swim, it was the perfect anime for channel flipping.
Cowboy Bebop can be daunting if it's not one of the first anime you ever see. Most people that watch it come out saying it's one of their favorite anime. There's nothing wrong with you if you don't think Cowboy Bebop lives up to the hype. So even if you don't think Cowboy Bebop is a masterpiece, you can at least acknowledge that it's some of the most fun you'll have watching a sci-fi action anime.

It’s rare when the anime community can come together and agree on ANYTHING. You can say that Izzy’s socks in Digimon Adventure are olive green, and you can bet your bottom dollar that there will be at least 1 person who will come in with a “BUT ACTUALLY…that’s PEA GREEN”. However, one thing I find that anime fans can say in one voice is that Cowboy Bebop is a legendary anime. Many have tried, but few have reached the mantle of longevity that Bebop has. For me, this was the show that stoked my anime pilot light one late summer’s night on Adult Swim. With its expertly crafted storyline featuring interesting and intriguing characters, a timeless animation style that looks better than most shows put out EVEN TODAY, music that remains a staple for anime music collectors, and a voice acting cast that makes even the most skeptical sub fan respects, Cowboy Bebop is the perfect example of what fans the world over love about anime and why Japanese Animation is not “just another cartoon”.

*The first attempt at airing Cowboy Bebop in Japan was in Spring 1998. However, Japan was having a panic about violence in media at the time and Cowboy Bebop was airing on a big network station very early in the evening. Several episodes were skipped, the series was cancelled, and it ended with a recap episode. Months later in the fall, a cable channel picked it up and aired the series in full. I bet most would disagree, but I consider it a Fall 1998 series.
