Oh, Death Note. Bless your little heart. You started so strong, held our attention for episodes on end, and then at one point or another…you just…lost the plot, so to speak. This show went from being an intellectual cat-and-mouse chase to a “Okay, so the cat is dead, but we now have several more cats, and a few decoy mice too!” It just got to be too much for one show. That said, I can’t deny that when it was good, Death Note was BRILLIANT. Each episode, you found yourself wondering, “Okay, how is Light going to get out of this one?” or “Dang, ‘L’ is right on his heels!” And once all the superfluous characters and plot twists got handled, the ending of this show is the stuff of legend. As for that Live-Action Netflix movie… we don’t discuss that abomination.
