Mob Psycho 100 is shockingly good. Not because people underrate it, but because it always manages to live up to the hype.

The series is about Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama. There's nothing special about him, pretty much a background character. Well except for the fact that he has extraordinary psychic powers. But he doesn't want to show them off both due to trauma and wanting to prove he's more than his psychic powers (he's not). He takes apprenticeship under Arataka Reigen, one of the greatest and funniest anime characters in history. He's a con artist but Mob doesn't know that and Reigen is at this point a father figure to him. Together they exorcise evil spirits. And by they I mean Mob, who keeps his emotions hidden until he can't take it anymore and let's them burst.

There will never be another show that looks like Mob Psycho 100. Oh we've had shows with animation that looks as good, but Mob Psycho 100's art style gives it significant amounts of character that won't be replicated any time soon. Honestly, if someone came up to me asking where they should start with watching anime, this is one of the shows I would point to.
