One Punch Man is the first anime I watched as it was airing. I knew about shows like Death Parade and Dragon Ball Super but I wasn't using social media that much so being new to anime I wanted to focus on learning about the classics. One Punch Man is the first show where I was excited to see it before the first episode dropped.

The premise is that our main character, Saitama, has trained so vigorously that he is strong enough to beat any enemy in just one punch. There's two problems. 1. Hero life has become boring to him. There's no thrill to the fight if all it takes is one punch. 2. Saitama is kind of an idiot. Since he is not attached to the official Hero Association, his accomplishments go unnoticed. This is a source of humor in the early episodes, but becomes a problem later on when the series focuses on other less interesting characters.

Nevertheless, this parody of Shonen Jump action series with ultra powerful main characters was an instant smash hit. The first season is still incredibly fun to this day.
