I’m gonna be honest, when it comes to Westerns, I’m not a fan at all. My mom loves shows like Wyatt Earp and Gunsmoke, but I’ve never gotten into them. I’m wired differently, I’ve come to realize. However, as with all things, there are exceptions. Trigun is that exception. Trigun is an anime’s take on a western, and the result was one of the most legendary tales to come out of Japan in the genre. This show has taken me on a PRODIGIOUS whirlwind of emotions—from laughing hysterically at the antics of the Donut-loving Blond dork, to the verge of tears at the final ruminations of Nicholas D. Wolfwood in a moment that has to go down as one of the saddest in anime history. I would argue that Trigun is more than just essential; it’s Legendary.
