Oh, poor Kare Kano. You had so much potential…I mean SO MUCH POTENTIAL. You really had a chance to be one of the greatest high school romance anime of all time. You started out so strong, with lovable characters and a story that at times was heartbreakingly sad and at other times prodigiously funny. However, you got caught up in politics between two of the most stubborn creatives in the industry—the original Manga creator and Hideaki Anno. Bless your heart. His and Her Circumstances deserves so much better than the shot it got, and I hope that one day someone gives it the remake treatment…though, having gotten filled in on what happens in the manga where the anime leaves off, I think it might be for the best.
