Nobody really thinks about writing in anime. This is because the vast majority of anime, including this one, are adaptations of manga, light novels or visual novels. So nobody talks about it unless they change something. But even with original shows, the writer is usually upstaged by the director. Writing is a universally thankless job but that's especially the case with anime.
With that in mind, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai has some of the best writing I've ever seen in anime.
Sakuta Azusagawa is not popular at school, mostly by choice but also because of hostile rumors. One day in the library, he sees a famous teenage actress wearing a bunny girl outfit. Nobody else sees her. Nobody else acknowledges her existence. It's like she's a ghost. The only person that sees her is Sakuta. This begins a romance between the two that starts with Sakuta just trying to help get people to notice her. And that's just the first arc. Later arcs include a time loop where Sakuta and only one other person are experiencing the same day over and over. As well as an arc involving Sakuta's sister, a shut-in who is scared of going outside due to trauma.
The Rascal Does Not Dream franchise has some of my favorite romance writing in anime. The author's other work, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou, is also worth checking out!
